How long should I run my pump?

Many factors determine pool filter pump running time. Factors such as:  the time of year, the size of pool (total gallons), bather load, the environment, and water temperature, all influence running time.  As a general rule, more in the summer and less in the winter.  For example, 10-12 hours in the summer & 4-6 hours in the winter, and 8 hours in the spring & fall.  Also, running the circulation pump during the peak time the sun is on pool, provides a good even mix of water temperature throughout.
